Worship in Terima

Homage to all Gods

Within Teriman Crown law, nobody can be persecuted on the basis of the god(s) they worship. Most gods are inclined towards either good or evil, but a good person could pay tribute to an evil god in the right circumstances. Commoners give praise to whichever god is most relevant to their needs in that moment, whether it be praying to Palavor - God of Agriculture for a good harvest, or offering tribute to Skein - God of Suffering in the hope of relieving a disease afflicting their family. In this regard, many gods receive the worship of the masses in some form or another. Openly flaunting or encouraging worship of a deity inclined to evil is distasteful to society. A preacher so brazen will often be subjected to extra scrutiny from the town guard, and even unjustly found guilty of a crime.     Few citizens of Terima dedicate their life to a single God. Even a priest of Nyva - God of Day would be inclined to make an offering to Cydenti - God of Oceans before undertaking an ocean voyage, for the seas belong to Cydenti. Worshippers of different gods are often found working together - a cleric of Udur - God of Mountains and a paladin of Apdos - God of Death might travel together to achieve a common goal, and remain friends thereafter despite their differing beliefs.

The Teriman Pantheon

The Teriman Crown holds a few gods in highest regard. Although no deity is outlawed, these few are proclaimed throughout the Realm. Temples venerating them are funded in cities and large towns, whereas in villages a small shrine may suffice. Gods are added or removed from the pantheon only by the regent: When the Crown passes away and a new leader ascends to the throne they declare their chosen pantheon, making changes to match their personal beliefs. Times of great change within the Realm have seen a deity added to the pantheon by a reigning Crown, but never has a god been removed during a reign. Doing so might be seen as a loss of faith, or worse as an insult; even the most powerful leader is wary of deliberately angering the Gods.   The current chosen pantheon is
  • Nyva - God of Day
  • Otlo - God of Judgement
  • Udur - God of Mountains
  • Fiera - God of Metallic Dragons
  • Quortus - God of Knowledge
