The Wild Bunch: Scurlock Manor

General Summary

Hired by Bynna Skyrhallan, resident diplomat of Skovlan, Bricks Strathnoll and Wester Grine quickly find themselves over their heads. They have gained invites to a rare party at Lord Scurlock's manor in Six Towers district. They have been hired to steal Satarra's Anchor which intel says is a device that Scurlock has in connection to the demon Satarra. Their source said Scurlock would store the anchor in the study safe during the party.   Having slipped away from the main party on the second floor ballroom, they secretly make thier way to the study on the 4th floor. When they open the safe, which seems too small to hold an anchor, they see only a necklace made of seaweed. Water drips from it but the water does not pool but rather evaporates unaturally quickly.   Cutting a piece of curtain in order to avoid touching it directly, Wester grabs the necklace and removes it from the safe. No sooner does he remove the necklace, the seaweed seems to endlessly unfurl and begins to wrap itself around him pulling him away from the safe and smashing a display case. That will get the attention of the guards a lot faster than they wanted. Wester tries to cut the seaweed off but fails to do so, while Bricks looks for something to store the necklace in. Sensing the neclace has a supernatural will of its own, Wester attunes to necklace and realizes that it is trying to claim him as its new owner. At his point the entrace to the study darkens slightly as a female form blocks the lamp in the hallway. As she enters the room, they realize she is not human, but is a dark scaled fishy looking demon in partial human form. Panic sets in, but given she isn't taking an aggressive stance they decide to see how things play out.   Bricks tries talking to her, but her opinion of Skovlanders seems pretty low. Wester allows the necklace to take its place around his neck and immediately feels a connection with the demon. This is Satarra, and the necklace around his neck is hers, connecting him to her on a psychic level. She bargains with them; one kiss from Wester and she will allow them to leave with the anchor. She leans in and kisses him. He feels both a sense of love at first sight and also a revulsion at her cold fish like lips. Confusing. He feels her will trying to possess him but his humanity wins the moment and he pulls back from the kiss with his humanity and sanity intact.   Sataara chuckles and slips out of the room while Bricks picks the locks on the window to make their escape. Wester takes a quick scan around the room for anything else of value and sees a journal. As he grabs it a gun thunders from the door. Guards have arrived, and bullets strike the desk sending wood splinters into his eyes.   Things were about to get real bad when the whole building shuddered slightly. The gift they had brought for Scurlock and brought down to the kitchen blew up not a moment too soon or late. A blast of hot fiery air shoots up the dumb waiter and knocks a few of the gaurds at the door off thier feet   Bricks and Wester dive out the window employing their climbing gear to rappel down the side of Scurlock Mannor. The explosion in the kitchen has distracted all the other guards from thier posts, so the get away is easy enough from there.
