“Sorry, what was that? I can’t hear you because gold talks and you ain’t got any!”

Aurora’s life as a noble doesn’t allow her as much time with her beloved broadsheets as she would like. Beltax is her trusted assistant editor who acts on her behalf when she is away and on many days may as well be the full editor-in-chief. He and Aurora have many shared bawdy tales of pursuing stories throughout the streets of Waterdeep in their youth. Loud, brash and always money minded, Beltax is a force to be reckoned with and an absolute terror to the writers that don’t pull their weight at the Zenith. His portly and plump girth is often seen planted firmly at his desk, barking orders with smoking nostrils. Reports of him lighting his cigars with his flame breath are accurate; reports that he will literally breath fire at journalists not meeting deadlines is (mostly) exaggerated. Many think it’s Beltax’s lifelong loyalty to Aurora that lets Tully and him get along so well, but he actually respects Tully as a blossoming journalist. Tully, for his part, knows Beltax will never shy away from giving him an absolute lamb basting if he deserves it, son of a noble or not and finds it refreshing.

“Look kid, I don’t care if you’re Aurora’s hatchling. Give me a story with legs!”
