Blackpaw Yarns

A quaint neighborhood yarn shop on the corner of Brian's Street and Mouse Alley in the Southern Ward, owned by Rosalee and Celanawe Blackpaw, a pair of mousefolk. Patrons can access the shop from either the front door that opens to Mouse Alley, or via a flight of stairs leading up from an access point below ground in the Warrens. Blackpaw Yarns provides much of the yarn and thread used by commercial weavers that are part of the Most Excellent Order of Weavers and Dyers, but they also sell local and imported fine and luxury yarns, including yarns made of rare and unusual fibers, for the crafting hobbyist. As such, Blackpaw Yarns has established itself as a preeminent yarn shop in the city.

Denizens

Mr. Celanawe Blackpaw runs the shop and tends to aspects of the business, such as managing imports and deliveries, and coordinating with the Order of Weavers and Dyers. Mrs. Rosalee Blackpaw spends most of the day in the shop, spinning away at her spinning wheel or knitting up a garment as a way of enticing business. After all, what's more warm and fascinating than a little mouse woman knitting away in a chair in a yarn shop? That's not all that Mrs. Blackpaw does though. She can provide details and information to customers about every type and brand of yarn in her shop, and teaches classes in yarn spinning and other yarn crafts from time to time.

Contents & Furnishings

Every gauge and texture of yarn one could possibly dream of can be found under this roof. Soft yarn, squishy yarn, silky yarn, sturdy yarn, as well as yarncraft implements such as knitting needles, crochet hooks, weaving looms, crafting notions, embroidery hoops and floss, tatting shuttles, lacemaking equipment, drop spindles and spinning wheels.

Architecture

What appears to be a nicely decorated small single floor plus attic shop building made of wood is actually a two story building, however, one of those stories is below street level, underground in the Warrens. The underground floor is the dwelling where the Blackpaws live. To the side of the doorway that enters into the dwelling space is the doorway that leads up a flight of stairs into the shop.
