Damage Control
By Mark Kung and Weston Mcgarrigle, 11/5/19
“No Skorg, I do not need you to defend my honor,” Fiego demurred in a low voice to his large friend as they made their way to a humble home in the South Ward, “I have already acquitted myself honorably in the Field of Triumph. I do not know why Tharodash is accusing me of using poison, he was a more than worthy opponent, perhaps he is ashamed he lost to a half elf.”
The two heroes of the Dragon Siege strode through the poorer district of Waterdeep, drawing attention both from their attire and their celebrity status.
“But you are a hero! Perhaps if he sees that you are my brother he will change his tune. This is an opportunity to win another recruit for your army!”
The bard beamed a broad grin.
“Perhaps,” Skorg replied, “but what of another tact? Would you be amenable to a rematch? With terms laid out plainly by myself? Wounded pride is a poison to my people, it may do well for folks to see a winner be pronounced unequivocally.”
Fiego cocked his head to the side.
"I am always eager to test my sword in battle, brother, but would another defeat not humiliate him even further?"
The half orc raised a finger.
“Only if he has cause for dispute. If he loses, he must lose decisively. There cannot be any room for doubt.”
Fiego walked in thoughtful silence for a moment before nodding. "Very well, I will be guided by you in this, Skorg. I will challenge Tharodash again and when I defeat him once more, we shall all fill our cups together and be clear of this matter."
