Martyr's Water

After the Banishment of the Old Deities, priests and clerics, whom had once been the default healers and spiritual guides, became defunct, losing their powers and any faith the population would have had in them. Nations survived for a while with simple nurses and doctors, using whatever medical knowledge could be scavenged from a long-lost age. But once the Prime War, with its gruesome death toll and high stake, was deployed across the continent, leaders quickly realized that their measly bandages and ointments wouldn't cut it. As such, all armies scrambled to find a way to replicate those powers of old. Even though the War came to an end before either of them could find such a technology, the Unification of the Provinces of Tamynia meant that their resources were now put together, and less than a decade went by before a team of Tamynian alchemists from Baseg On produced a substance capable of recreating the arcane effects. It was named Martyr's Water and, soon, the Tamynian State mass-produced it, making it into their own healer-making drug, all under the watchful eyes of scientists and political leaders, working hand in hand to keep such a technology a well-guarded state secret.

Social Impact

This substance allowed Tamynia to create a new class of healers: clerics. These arcane healers, sworn to protect Tamynia and its people, have granted the Provinces a significant advantage, in War as in Peace. The invention of Martyr's Water is sometimes seen as the one of the catalysts for the Age of Progress in Tamynia, cementing Baseg On as the new Metropolis and technological hotspot.
