Ring of Quietude
A magic-imbued piece of jewelry, the ring of quietude is an object used by rascals, spies, or generally anyone who has something to hide. Crafted by Zilvran jewellers, rings of senses are small works of art, yet it is their magical properties that make it such a prized item. The ring of quietude, when worn on the left hand, will hide the bearer from a single individual of their choice, effectively making them invisible to all their senses.
History
The Rings of Senses were the pet project of Emano Mengosh, a Zilvran jeweller and arcanist of the early 2nd century. The Ring of Quietude was designed not with crime and trickery and minds, but rather in order to allow some Zilvran aristocrats to pursue affairs without their spouse's knowledge. Then gifted to the Edraih House, it has switched hands over the years, sometimes disappearing in underground networks before resurfacing in nobles hands (or rather fingers).
Throughout its existence, the Ring has been a scandalous tool. Sometimes used in amorous affairs, but also in criminal plots and political espionnage, the Ring has acquired a reputation for its usefulness and reliability. Nowadays, it is coveted by Zilvran assassins and nobles in embarrassing situations.
Numerous arcanists have tried to replicate the Ring and its properties, yet it still remains a mystery how a single item could affect all senses simultaneously when magic-induced invisibility only seems to affect vision. This curiosity towards the Ring of Quietude could start to explain why Invisibility Rings are such a common magical object across Duvrin nowadays.
Significance
Although the Ring of Quietude is not particularly a symbol of Zilvran pride, its uniqueness has been a chauvinistic brag amongst arcanists since the mid 2nd century. Its popularity could also be perceived as a result of the cultural and political climate of Zilvra, where monogamy and political games are more common than in other nations.
