Princess Zar'ath, Firstly I plead that you allow me apologize for being so foolish as to not understand what you have been trying to ask me; I suppose that my past has left me ill-prepared to comprehend such simple concepts, and I am deeply sorrowful that such ignorance on my part may have caused you distress. I am unfortunately often out of my depth with such social matters.

I have - with a bit of fortunate aid - realized that what you were trying to communicate is that you didn't wish my company if I didn't have romantic feelings towards you, despite how inappropriate such feelings would be between us due to both gender and station. I should have understood sooner, and again, I apologize for this.

I do not, however, carry such feelings for you, your Highness. I'm sorry that there has been any confusion here.

I will still be here to support and protect you as needed, as I believe in your cause and I value every member of the Morninglight Company, but I feel it would be detrimental to your emotional health should I continue to 'lead you on' (as I've been told is the correct term), and as well there would be unfortunate effects should your family find out about our arrangement that would damage your standing, and the last thing I wish to do is cause you any sort of harm.
