Entry 12: A Letter to Cassander

*a letter is tucked into this spot rather than a journal entry, written in common instead of Necril*     My Dearest Cass,     Thank you for being my strength and standing beside me, I know it must have been near impossible for you because of what I am was. I am finding words difficult right now, there is so much I wish to say but I don’t know how. I should begin with how glad I am that you stole my bath. Though I was trying before then to make the others in the Company less fearful distrusting of me, it’s been your resolve that’s led them to be more patient and perhaps even open to the idea of having me as a friend.     My death in the pool has given me a new perspective on what it means when people say ‘I will die for you’. I have always thought it such a simple thing, because it is so easy for mortals to do just that... die. In a way, I still do, but I see now that the pledge is offering something precious that can never be taken back.     I would die for you, Cass, but more than that, I promise you that I will live. I will live to keep you safe, so that you can go home again, whole and healthy.     Yours now and always,   V~
