Megopolis As a World

Megopolis is a technologically advanced city that covers its whole world. It's gone through numerous cataclysmic events and over time built upwards in Layers of more city, with an unknown amount of Layers below; only the upper 4 are inhabited by the living and connected to society. The Layers are held up by Layer Struts, magical artifact supports which can be extended and built upon but never destroyed - the final dying magic of a legendary historical figure known as The Builder. Transit between Layers is done by elevator and the occasional maintenance shaft. As one descends the Layers, so does one find places of history, and reduced presence of technology.

Megopolis is a world covered in clouds; those who live here cannot naturally see the night sky, nor can they see the orbital platform up above, Builder's Wish. Radar imaging has helped with the former, but not the latter. It took until space explorers and portal users arrived from Lazwish for the people of Megopolis to discover its existence.

NOTE: As a sanity check for any character abilities that use or require sunlight, the large lights at the top of each Layer that turn on in daytime have a UV component and convey sunlight-like benefits where applicable.
