Quenching Day

1st day of Mon Voknul

The Forge Lord's holy day marks the end of Summer and beginning of Autumn, symbolizing the heat smelting out impurities then quenching to lock in strength and durability, noting how Autumn is traditionally the time to prepare for the coming Winter. There are many ways in which people celebrate or honor this day. Many craftsmen plan out an all-day project, the product of which is donated to their community. Some take the time to provide upkeep to the infrastructure of their homes: repairing the cracks in people's foundations and roads, re-shingling rooftops, patching leaks, etc. Others prepare special meals which must be fired in their kilns at steady temperatures all day long. Children are often led in crafts, such as bending pieces of filament to make varying sigils.   There are two staple traditions, however, which all partake in. After Shey and Yuud set, people light sparking torches and hike to the nearest body of non-drinking water, preferably mineral rich springs. Once there, each worshipper prays for the resilience and drive to finish the year, then extinguishes their torch by plunging it into the waters. Upon returning home, the other tradition is to share a desert which has been fired to crystalize the exterior.
