Yorsind Festival
Marking the end of Winter, start of Spring and the new year, this festival is celebrated over the course of two days with each focusing on aspects of their respective patrons.
It starts on the last day of Mon Rantaes, with high energy events and games challenging strength. Some popular examples are the grain sack toss and sparring pits. Once night falls an effigy is burned atop a great bonfire, and traditionally people will write down their problems of the last year, casting the notes into the fire to symbolically move on. Befitting the god of war, hunting, and strength, meat is on the menu throughout this day - especially kebabs.
On the first day of Mon Skrath, the tone of the festivities shift. Time is spent appreciating nature to welcome in Spring, playing music, and creating other works of art. Practitioners of the arcane display their skills before the crowds and some even engage in friendly competitions. The ashes from the previous night's bonfire and effigy are gathered and spread through the fields to help fertilize the coming crops. In stark contrast to the prior day, meat is never eaten on the 1st of Mon Skrath. Instead, pastries and rolled pancakes filled with fruit-jams are passed around and shared with the community.
