Arcana

Arcana is the scientific study of mana. This includes, but is not limited to, its behavior, origin, and potential utilization. A studier of mana would be referred to as an arcanist (not to be confused with mage).
NOTE: It is important to understand the difference between an arcanist and a mage. While an arcanist studies mana, a mage utilizes mana. For example, an arcanist might make an arcane discovery, such as a new spell, which a mage (who may have no intention to discover anything in the field) might utilize practically. Analogously, searing a pork-chop does not necessarily make someone a food scientist.
