Hexborn or Fay Touched

The Hexborn in the world of E'ven-dra are those unfortunate children that are not truly the children of the families they knew growing up with. For most Hexborn they are the result of bargains made between powerful Arch Fey or Hags and mortals. In some cases the bargains made results in the Fey swapping the families child with a fey at birth. For some this is the Feys own child the idea being that living among mortals will make them stronger. In other cases the Fey and the mortals relationship results in the production of fey magic. Regardless the Hexborn will live the life of a normal child until reaching a certain point, normally around adolescence, in which their fey magic begins to present itself. In the case of Arch Fey this will signal their need to return to the Fey Wilds and if a child was taken returned. After this a Hexborn will learn to control their gifts and go on to be powerful fey themselves. However in the case of Hags, were the child is always female, they will undergo the Calling. Hag Hexborn are always physically female, and grow up to be almost supernaturally beautiful. Sometimes mistaken for Aasimar, these girls will live lives that can only be described as fairy tailesc. But around the time they reach 18-20 their Hag mothers will seek them out through a course called The Calling. Where the Hag will magically call out and try to bring the girls "home" were upon the Hag and any others in its coven, often hag sisters or aunts, subjects them to unspeakable horrors that corrupt and change these young women into more hags. Most Hag Hexborn are in a constant battle for control to resist The Calling.
