First Advancements

At this time, your character is able to improve attributes, get new skills, upgrade skills and learn new Edges. Note that no "Arcane" edges can be learned at this point. To accomplish these things, you have 2 "Advancements" and 12 "Skill points".

Using skill points

You can use a skill point to learn a new skill at d4 level. You can use a skill point to advance a skill by one die so long as the key ability for that skill is no lower than the target die. You can use 2 skill points to advance a skill by one die if the target die is higher than the key ability for that skill.

Using Advancements

At your first advancement, you are given 2 advancements to use. You can use these to:

• Use 1 advancement to gain a new novice rank edge (no arcane edges).
• Use 1 advancement to increase 1 attribute by 1 die type. This can only be performed once per rank.
• Use 1 advancement to remove a minor hindrance.
• Use 1 advancement to change a major hindrance into a minor hindrance (GM approval needed).
