Valuables

The greatest treasure that could be found in the hall of shards was the reason for why it was built in the first place: the Shardblade.

The Shardblade rested on a sword stand made out of carved black opal on top of a pedestal made out of galena.

Apart from that many other gems had been placed in the room on crystal pedestals. These gems were only of the highest quality and best cut. Most of these were made by dwarves, but if a gift from another species was considered to be of high enough quality, it could receive a place in the hall.

Hazards & Traps

Due to the many treasures located in this room, many traps and dangers had been installed to protect against intruders and petty thieves.

Over time an ever increasing number of traps were installed, making it almost impossible to know them all. While this made it a well defended place, it also made it very difficult to enter without a trap mind, a person who's sole task was to remember them all.

Some traps were designed to sound an alarm in case of petty theft, or to cause an onset of certain death if the intruder had malicious intent.

Special Properties

Even though light sources had never been taken into the room by the dwarves, it was imbued with magic light, embedded into the walls and ceiling. This light moved over time, causing strange light effects.

Architecture

Everything in the hall was made from various crystals, shaped by the best jewellers the dwarves had. The walls tended to be made from more translucent and colourful crystals, while the floor was made out of amethysts and the ceiling made out of alabaster radiated brightly.

History

When the Shardblade was created, it had a purpose, but after the war the purpose was no more. Due to the significance that it had brought into the dwarves culture, the decision was made to create a place for it to be kept. A place worthy to house legends. This room became the Hall of Shards.
