Lost letter of gold

My dearest friend,
Months ago you we were walking around my city, and you were wondering why so many buildings seemed to be built in the same proportions, and why it looked so good.   The way I went about to figure this mystery out was very simple. First I wanted to find out the common proportions. I would use my meter stick to measure the size of as many buildings as possible, then I would go home and try to find commonalities between the sizes. Now I believe that I may have found the answer to that part.   The common ground was that the longer section of wall, be it compared to the short side of the floor, or the short side of the wall, always was between three decimal and one and nine decimal and one times the length of the short side. The average turned out at slightly over six decimal and one.   One of my students also found another fascinating correlation. The ratio also holds if you add both the long and the short length together and then divide the sum by the longer section of wall. I can not imagine that that is a mistake. I am soon to present these exciting findings to the other teachers at the school, they've all expressed their interest.   As for why it is so prominent in our city, I can only speculate. Maybe we've used it so much subconsciously that we as a species have gotten used to it, but when I asked a few elves and dwarves, they also expressed satisfaction about the proportionality, so I do not think that that is correct.   I would like to hear from you about the subject matter. Since your city is known for the many species living there, maybe you could ask a few of them? I will write you again later this week.
I wish you well, An[unreadable]
