Noidyr

Okay, basically, Noidyr are descendants of some of the first Haendorians that went off into the North and found the Northmost Sea. There, they developed their own culture a bit like the Vikings except they explored instead of pillaging because there was nothing to pillage. They stayed separated for a really long time, and in that time, the Noidyr sailed really far and explored lots of land. Their biggest settlement is in the shadow of the Crescent Mountains which shield them from the frequent snowstorms that come out of the Northmost Sea.

The Calling

I jolted awake. I knew not what had woken me, yet my heart was burdened with terrible foreboding.   I rubbed my eyes, yet when I reopened them, I found that I lay not in my bed, but in a strange dark clearing in the center of which stood a still pond. All was still, yet not like tranquility, but as if every thing held its breath. Then she came. I could not believe my eyes. It was Naks herself. Surely this was a dream, yet no dream could feel so real. She strode out of the encircling forest, the stars of her cloak glittering like millions of jewels in a deep pool of water. Her face shone with a radiance brighter and more beautiful than any light Men could conjure.   As she approached, I knelt. What else could I do? A goddess stood before me, the most powerful in the world next to her sister. How on Tol's good Earth could one prepare for such an encounter?   A laugh rang out above me, "Fear not Kanduil. I would ask that you treat me not as an elder but a friend, if you would have me." Her voice was deep, yet gentle and filled with love. "But of course I would have you, O mighty Naks! Your presence honors me beyond what is due my humble life," I exclaimed as I leapt to my feet.   "I ask that you not speak such words of degredation, yet I have not come merely for pleasantries," she said, her face growing somber, "I have a quest for you. The end is coming, and I cannot stop it. You cannot stop it either, yet you must do as I tell you. It will be bitter work, but you must hurry to save the race of Men. Do you accept?"   I peered into her gaze. Her eyes were clouded with fear and sadness that struck deep into my own heart. "I will do anything I can" "Very well. Tomorrow, you must tell your family to leave." She placed her long-fingered hand upon my chest. "Your wife will know, for I have placed a spell within you that will aide you as it can. Ask her to choose three other families to join you on your journey, and it is vital that you trust them with your lives and that of all those you love." She paused and stroked my cheek mournfully. She sighed, "if only there were another... yet none could be so true."   She pulled back. "That is all I can say for now, but my spell will help you, so long as you do not neglect it." Her hand reached toward me, and as she closed my eyes she spoke in a whisper that shook the world.   Wake up
