nommo
Nommo, also known as lovelanders, anurans, or frog people, are humanoids with frog-like features, including the heads of frogs and webbed hands and feet.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Nommo have both gills and lungs, being able to breathe underwater (in freshwater) and on land. They can remain out of water for some time, but require water on their skin every few hours to survive, meaning they cannot typically survive for long in desert environments.
Members of the nommo exhibit a large diversity of traits, with some being able to secrete poison from their skin, and others even having venomous claws.
Genetics and Reproduction
Nommo are all intersex, having both reproductive organs. They are able to self-fertilize and fertilize with others of their species. Nommo breeding is usually seasonal, typically taking place in the early Spring. Members of the nommo have a homing sense, making them able to return for migration and breeding, even from thousands of miles away.
Excreted eggs are about the size of small balloons.
Behaviour
Although all nommo are intersex, there are a number of different culturally-defined roles which may be thought of in the same way as genders in other species. However these expressions are significantly more individualized and unique, and may or may not have names or labels attached to them as a result.
Civilization and Culture
Culture and Cultural Heritage
The majority of nommo adhere to the worship of Dagon, although a number of smaller nommo religions exist. Dagon is said to be the father of all nommo, and is often invoked during breeding and to protect nommo eggs and lives.
The second largest nommo god worshipped is the goddess Hydra.
History
The tradition homeland of the nommo is called Loveland, hence the other name for the nommo, lovelanders. The area is located deep in the jungle, and is the area where most nommo congregate during mating season in early Spring.
