Asbury M.E. Church - 640 Marsh Street

“M. E.” stands for Methodist-Episcopal. Founded by ‘Bishop’ Asbury (along with hundreds of others around the same time), in 1789. The original wooden structure burned in 1815, replaced the following year by the presen brick building. Archives therefore contain records only back until 1815. Dr. Ezekiel Wallace is the current pastor.
