Ancestral 'Classes', Professions, and Soul Sparks

People in the world progress as they grow and experience new things, growing the strength of their soul. It is in the nature of all humanoids to grow and learn, and this compulsion can be mapped in three primary ways: their ancestral classes, their specialized levels, and their Soul Sparked levels, mostly through the measurement of hit die, proficiency bonuses, and various abilities. It should be noted that people in the world do not think in the terms of levels, only relative strength.

Ancestral Classes

Ancestral Classes are the most passive measure of a beings soul, as all living creatures have racial levels that grow with them. The most common form of gaining these levels is simply gained as a creature ages, as an adult creature is more powerful than a juvenile. These Classes generally travel up to about 5th level, and give different bonuses from race to race. Generally, the following trends can be observed.
  • All children are considered 1st level creatures of their specific type.
  • As children come of age, they reach 2nd level, and gain one racial feat along with the normal bonuses of gaining a level.
  • From this point, the only way most creatures gain any form of levels is from their specializations or from being Soul Sparked. In order to gain further racial levels, most creatures must form some connection to the Prime Deities of their species or undergo rituals unique to each species that they have developed, further progressing in this way.

Specialized Levels

Professional Levels refer to the form of levels most humanoid creatures will get in their lives. This is an abstraction of the experience and relative ability of people as they live, fight, and work. Should an older person suddenly experience the crisis or climax that would allow them to become Soul-Sparked, their Professional levels are then converted to Soul-Sparked levels, although the rate is not equal, or consistent. The most common Specialized Classes are shown below.
  • Adept- The class of most working people in non-combat roles. Merchants, Farmers, and Artisans.
  • Warrior- The average class of those who fight professionally. Soldiers and Mercenaries.
  • Brawler- The class of those who fight for themselves. Pugilists, Athletes, the Focused.
  • Skirmisher- The class of those who fight to keep themselves safe. Scouts, Spies, and Thieves.
  • Mages- Wielders of arcane magic.
  • Shamans- Wielders of primal magic.
  • Priests- Wielders of divine magic.

Soul-Sparked Levels

Roughly 6 percent of the population is considered Soul-Sparked through means that are almost entirely unknown. Any PC is considered Soul Sparked. It can be difficult to tell at a glance whether or not someone is Soul-Sparked, but if they are noticed there is often a few eyes that are kept on them.
