Gods

Origins

The original god, Galea, came into being roughly around the same time the first cell of life.
Her firstborn was Death. Since then, she has birthed millions of gods throughout the past few billion years.

All gods, including Galea, began in the Over-Place.

Purpose & Faith

According to Galea, the purpose of a god is to to "Guide and shape all life on Earth. To nurture, teach, and inspire faith."
Gods require faith in order to survive. They gain faith through many ways, including:
    • Kind or heroic deeds
    • Feats of awe
    • Spawning stories, myths and legends
    • Gratuity
    • Prayer
    • Worship
    • Iconography
There are also methods that use fear, rage, cruelty, and suffering, but Galea strongly disapproves. Only some gods such as Magmus - God of Magma are allowed to perform such acts, due to their impressive faith cultivation.
All faith gain is typically rerouted to the Over-Place, where Galea redistributes it evenly to all gods.

Appearance

Gods are born in a vast multitude of different forms. Many of these reflect some or multiple species of life on Earth (eg. a humanoid body with an animal head).
Other gods appear in more abstract forms, or represent an aspect of the planet Earth. Every god is 4th Dimensional at birth, and may conform to a 3rd dimensional form when on Earth, or remain non-corporeal.

Aspects & Transcendance

A god is born representing an aspect. This aspect can be an emotion, object, element, action, abstract concept, or virtually anything else imaginable. They are able to influence, impose, or represent their aspect in ways specific to each god.
When a God commits a great act of awe, they will transcend, becoming ingrained in the very aspect they represent for the rest of eternity.
After a god has transcended, it is possible for another god to be born that represents that same aspect.

Age

An average god will typically live for anywhere between 100 and 5000 years before transcending. There are of course exceptions; some gods live to be millions or billions of years old, while others shine so brightly they transcend after only a few years.
