The Ashlynns

It was believed that the couple of Mr. and Mrs. Ashlynn had formulated a deal with the demonic entity known as Mephisto. In exchange for a steady stream of souls, the couple were given a nearly infinite source of immortality and access to mystic, black magic.

Summary

Mr. and Mrs. Ashlynn were an elderly couple living near Elizabethtown in Upstate New York. They fostered orphaned individuals in their expansive 10,000 square foot mansion. Most of the individuals they fostered were superpowered individuals; latent mutants with underdeveloped powers, gamma mutates who were shunned by society, and Inhumans who had yet to receive their terrigen mist treatment(s).

After reports were filed of many missing persons from the Ashylnn Estate, a group of Honorary Avengers were deployed on site to investigate. After they entered the Ashlynn Estate they quickly discovered things were not as they had seemed. Children were being held captive and their abilities/powers slowly siphoned from them; Mr. Ashlynn acting as a conduit of sorts to channel their powers into.

The Honorary Avengers confronted the couple and discovered their connections to the demonic entity known as Mephisto. The group of heroes rescued the children held captive in the Ashlynn Estate and defeated the couple in the process; their defeated resulted in a collapse of the Ashlynn Estate and seemingly the disappearance and/or annihilation of The Ashlynns.

Historical Basis

The Ashlynn Estate, its residents, and the atrocities conducted there are all true. The extent of the Ashlynn's power and their connection to Mephisto will never be fully comprehended. (It would be latered revealed during the Red Serpent Rises that the Ashlynn's were sacrificing souls to Mephisto in order to bolster his Six Year Army).

Spread

The exploits of the Ashlynns is well-known in any circle that studied, was influenced by, or was aware of Mephisto and his evil doings. Beyond that, the rumor of the Ashlynns remains more of a folklore of sorts, with its reputation spreading across North America as the most, but primarily contained to the East Coast, specifically the New York region.
