Captain America presumed K.I.A.

Captain America fell in combat overseas. His death occurred while on a reconnaissance mission in the Bavarian Alps in pursuit of a lead on the whereabouts of Red Skull and Hydra. A massive explosion was documented in an abandoned German (Nazi) facility where it was believed Cap met his demise. Several attempts were made to survey the area for the Captain’s whereabouts with no success. On December 12th, 2004 the U.S. Government declared it the first annual Captain America Day in remembrance of the national hero.
