Empire State University Hostage Situation (Enter: Hydra Module)

Criminal Activity

Hydra took two scientists hostage at Empire State University.

While attempting to investigate leads regarding the Silver Surfer's last known location(s), several Hydra Agents encountered Professor Ajit Patel and his assistant Kim Chen. The two had come in on a Sunday and Hydra was not expecting the need to take them hostage.
  A small group of recent Avenger recruits (later known as the Honorary Avengers) were deployed to intervene and prevent the lose of human life. Hydra was threatening to execute a hostage every hour until their ridiculous demands were met. Hydra desired the Statue of Liberty be draped in a Hydra uniform. (This was later discovered to be a ploy to distract the authorities and bide Hydra time to search the databases located here).
  During the conflict, Hydra deployed several "clones" of (in)famous heroes with the likes of Black Panther, Spider-Man, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Wolverine, and Iron Man. Each individual was latered revealed to be a fraud, a fake, a phony, or otherwise a doppelganger or the individual they portrayed. (Including some idnividuals seemingly pulled from the multiverse and brainwashed by Hydra).
  In the end, Hydra was stopped and no civilian lives were lost.
