Nuclear Energy

Nuclear generators where the turning point of the world. In the year of 1951 when Enrico Fermi led a group of scientists in initiating the first self- sustaining nuclear chain reaction. Ever since it has been a staple for the world. Everything ran on Nuclear power, from cars to TV's to robots the world was taken by storm. Nuclear energy began to shape everything, from the common persons life to the militaries actions. Nuclear energy first became revolutionary, a saving grace in a time when war seemed inevitable. And then as tensions ran high and new deadlier uses were found for it, the Atom bomb was born. And with it the destruction of society as it was and the creation of the Wasteland it would become.
When first created it's creators considered the Atom Bomb to be Nuclear Energy's greatest height, and it's most dangerous creation. They would never learn how right they were, nearly 100 years after Nuclear energy was created, the world as they knew it was destroyed. In the year 2047 the bombs fell, and in the aftermath no one could say who had struck first. Nor who had struck the worse blow. The world was in ruins, and the people of it struggled to survive. Billions dies within days, some in the initial blasts and some in the aftermath. And in the end, when the bombs fell, everyone lost.

Complexity

Some would say that it was fairly complicated, but in reality once it was made it was fairly unstoppable. And fairly easy to manipulate, something clearly seen in the wasteland where old items and nuclear cores are commonly re purposed for entirely new uses.
