Manticore
Basic Information
Anatomy
A manticore has a red lion's body, a human's face with horns and a scorpion's tail. It's tail can inject a deadly poison but an antidote exists. It also has three rows of teeth which can chew an entire cow in a few minutes.
Genetics and Reproduction
In their heat period, which happens once a year, females sing in a beautiful voice to attract males who then fight their rivals. Only the winner can reproduce while the loser runs for his life. Then, the two partners go their separate ways.
A manticore can only have one or two mantipup at a time, with a gestation period of five month. The mantipups stay with their mother till they're nine month old.
Growth Rate & Stages
A mantipup stays very close to its mother until their sixth month and learns then how to hunt properly. When it's ready, it leaves but it's only sexually mature from one year old onwards.
Ecology and Habitats
Manticores live in savannah and warm climate forests.
