Abaddon
Plagudinem abaddon
Plagudinem abaddon (Abaddon) is an ancient locust-like kaiju possessing a chimeric appearance. The front limbs have developed as long arms tipped with pincers, not too dissimilar to a tailless whip scorpion. These limbs possess enough articulation to fold them tightly against the body. The abdomen of Abaddon ends in a long tail tipped with a bulbous stinger similar to a true scorpion. Like locust and grasshoppers, Abaddon can use its large back legs to jump huge distances, and it also possesses two pairs of wings that allow it to fly. Aside from a lethal neurotoxin venom and long arms used to strike opponents out of range from retaliation, Abaddon's biggest strength is its rapid asexual breeding. Abaddon, when active, is nearly constantly breeding. Ancient texts depict this creature as a living plague, and may have been responsible for the events that inspired the eighth plague of the Old Testament. Abaddon's eggs must be laid parasitically, however it does not engage other hyperfauna for this purpose. Instead, it targets large fauna and megafauna. A clutch of eggs are laid inside a corpse, which quickly hatch after 24 hours. A swarm of Abaddon's young can grow into the millions very quickly, killing more animals as they spread, giving more hosts for eggs. The nymphs obey Abaddon as their queen through the use of pheromones and bioacoustics. These swarms are then directed to the nearest source of food, forests, jungles, and in modern times this includes farms and even cities. Periodically, Abaddon will lay a single special variant of egg that will hatch into a new queen should the first one perish. These eggs are incased in a type of gelatinous edible material that will keep the egg safe from geological events and feed the nymph when it hatches. It is theorized there are thousands of these nests all over the world. Once the current Abaddon expires, the first egg to hatch will release a special bioacoustic call that forces all other eggs to resume their hibernation.
