Aciedactylus

Aciedactylus mandocaris

The Aciedactylus is a 5 meter long Allosaurid theropod that patrols the beaches of skull Island, preying on the crustaceans, mollusks and carrion that washes up on shore. Aciedactylus specialized in this lifestyle to avoid the dangerous jungles and swamps further inland. Several adaptations allow Aciedactylus to live a partially aquatic lifestyle. Broad, splay-toed feet kept this dinosaur from sinking into the sodden mud and sand, but the most peculiar adaptation of this dinosaur was the second pair of nostrils mounted on top of it's triangular nasal crests. These second nostrils allow the dinosaur to breathe while the rest of the snout is buried in sand and mud digging for prey or while the creature is wading through the shallows, they also are used to produce trumpeting calls for communication with others of its kind. Aciedactylus was originally mistook for a tyrannosaur relative, with a shorter, rounder snout similar to the Vastatosaurus and two digit hands however these are just evolutionary results of its lifestyle, its jaws are able to produce tremendous force to crack open the shells of armoured prey and its arms are no longer used to subdue prey, instead are used to keep itself upright while its jaws are buried in the sand, however its long claws still can leave nasty wounds on predators.
