Ferrucutus

Ferrucutus cerastes

Ferrucutus is a 7-10 meter long species of centrosaurine ceratopsid dinosaur that is found on Skull Island. Herds can number up to around 12 individuals. Heavily built grazers/browsers with massive shoulders and enormous frills of bone and spike, these powerful animals are dangerous prey for the island’s carnivores. Ferrucutus herds tend to follow the Brontosaurus herds, exploiting any jungle cleared by the huge animals. Jungle cleared by Brontosaurus herds is quickly reduced to grassland by these shrub-browsing ceratopsids, their hard beaks making short work of the thorns and woody stems. Although the head armaments are mostly used to display to mates and intimidate rivals, the horns of a Ferrucutus are lethal to any would be predators with both males and females actively sharpening them on exposed rock. Fights between rivaling males usually involves stomping, mock charges and bellowing but if neither back down fight can become physical. Males will charge into each other and butt heads, lock horns and engage in a pushing match until one is pushed to the ground or too wounded to continue. Like the buffalo of Africa, Ferrucutus will actively attack and kill any juvenile predators they come across to negate future threats.
