Hydra
Titanammonitus hydrea
Titanammonitus hydrea (Hydra) is an ammonite kaiju. Fairly lightweight compared to other oceanic hyperfauna, Hydra has evolved ways of avoiding conflict. Hydra's ten tentacles end in bulbous tips resembling the head of a serpent, complete with bioluminescent spots resembling eyes. Hydra waves these tentacles around when frightened, convincing a predator it is outnumbered. The shell of Hydra is long, round and sloping making it appear like the legless body of some mythical hydra depictions. Unlike mythological depictions, Hydra is not aggressive and would rather flee from a fight than participate. Hydra is a strictly herbivorous kaiju, feeding mostly on algae and phytoplankton. This has led to problematic situations, in which the kaiju enters costal waters of highly populated areas in order to feed on large algae blooms. In the event of such a scenario, the kaiju is to be provoked or scared away into deeper waters, and a cover up story is to be fabricated and fed to the local population.
