Muto
Jinshin mushi
Jinshin mushi (Muto) is a species of vertebrate descendant from highly derived placoderms convergently evolving a terrestrial lifestyle. The mutos are considered incredibly alien, sharing no ancestry with all terrestrial life. Muto's possess eight limbs, although males use a pair as wings, the largest pair of walking limbs contain electromagnetic organs that when contracted will release a wave of energy in the form of EMP, this EMP temporary deactivates electronics and even natural processes within some hyperfauna, such as the atomic breath of Gigantis species'.
The lifecycle of Jinshin mushi begins with the egg, this egg along with hundreds of siblings are laid within sources of radiation, be it hyperfauna or otherwise. It's believed this species actively hunted or scavenged kaiju in prehistory, evolving specific countermeasures to combat other kaiju to reproduce. Once hatched, the male larval mutos will seek out new sources of energy while female larva will remain at their place of birth. The larva will cocoon and grow, passively absorbing radiation to feed. Once males reach sexual maturity they will begin to produce their bioacoustics in the form of their EMP, these calls will eventually awaken dormant females who will return their call. When males hear this call they will emerge from their cocoon and begin to search out new sources of radiation to both feed on and bring to a potential mate.
While males cease growing after emerging from their cocoons, females never stop growing. older female muto are referred to as Queens, referring to the crown of dorsal ridges that appear similar to a crown. When populations are at their peak, one dominant female with molt beyond the Queen stage and become the Muto Prime. The duty of the Muto Prime seems to be similar to that of the asexual variant of the Zilla species, to ensure the survival of the species when it is on the downwards curve. The eggs a Muto Prime produce are far more suited for surviving millennia without gestating. However these eggs require an immense amount of radiation to survive, which is where the Muto Prime's immense size comes into play. A Prime is bulky, aggressive and hardwired to fight and kill Alpha and even Apex kajiu, or take over their radiation rich nests to lay their eggs in. Once the eggs are laid, they will lay dormant until ecosystems damaged by the species overpopulation heal.
