Skull Island Scarab

Nigracassida skullus

Skull Island Scarab is a 4 inch long Scarab that follows the herds of large herbivores the call the island home, its carapace is black but when light shines on it just the right way it can be seen that the carapace is actually iridescent, shining a bright gold. Males possess large horns on their head similar to the rhinoceros beetle except more shovel-like, these antlers act as pincers that they use to scoop and hold feces, the larger the antlers hold, the more feces they can hold to impress a female. To avoid being blinded by their treasure, males can extend their eyes to the sides on stalks. Once a female’s trail is located the male will track her down, fighting any rival they come across, when the male finds her he will release the chuck of feces, roll it into a ball and present it to her.
