Terrarchitect
Saurodeus mechanios
Terrarchitect is a hyperfaunal sauropod species of colossal size even by kaiju standards and one of the few giant kaiju species that possesses more than one individual. Three individuals march across Lemuria and one lone bull calls A'aru home and is the largest specimen. Terrarchitects are, as their name suggests, ecosystem engineers, their endless quest for food shapes the landscape around them. Forests and Jungles are pruned away making room for lush grasslands and their radioactive dung promotes floral growth which inevitably brings back the jungles they consumed. Terrarchitects will also mine the earth for the radioactive ore known as Orichalcum, creating vast hills and valleys as well as exposing the ore deposits to the ecosystem, furthering the health of smaller hyperfauna and the ecosystems around them.
Each part of the Terrarchitect is designed to shape the lands, their pillar-like legs are covered in thorny spikes and end in broad claws to dig, their tails end in two shears that drag across the ground, acting as hoes which help seed the earth as they travel. Their long, vast necks are covered in downward facing spikes which aid in defense or courtship as well as uprooting countless trees in one sweep.
Terrarachitects only breed every million years or so based on the age and population of the currently known specimens, eggs are laid in a similar fashion to other megafaunal sauropods, deposited in a hidden nest in clutches of a hundred or more and then abandoned. Infant mortality is considered to be extreme, with hyperfauna predators like Nozuki or Gorosaurus gorging on Terrarchitect hatchlings. Only a few will reach adulthood where they are almost completely untouchable, only apex kaiju are considered a possible threat.
