L’anatomie Empyrée

French, attributed to William of Auvergne, c. 13th century CE   Theologians widely consider this long-lost text to be a philosophical tract delving into the nature of the Holy Trinity in part due to its title, The Divine Anatomy. The work’s lengthy introduction, available in reproductions and forgeries, details the dark spiritual and secular history of a region in Southern France. What follows in the lone complete copy is a horrifying grimoire depicting detailed anatomic illustrations of many demonic and alien entities. According to the text, the dissections took place along with many recorded experiments beneath a medieval cathedral located in a provincial capital in Southern France.
