Terrance "Tarantula" Jones
When the rising stars like Louis Armstrong and Joe “King” Oliver left for new scenes, Jones stayed in New Orleans. His moody, sultry jazz thrives in the bayou. Easily identified as the greatest local talent, Torne first selects Jones to play in his operetta. Their initially warm creative relationship provides Jones with an outline of Torne’s plan, but the musician’s excitement cools as Torne becomes withdrawn and starts talking to another pianist. At the last minute, Torne unceremoniously replaces Jones, who bounces to the next gig at Café Épreuve.
