House Holdis
The Holdis family are the founders and rulers of Westbank. Human descendants of an ancient noble family from pre-Scourge Landis, the family and their servants left their ravaged homeland and settled in the area when the Scourge ended some one hundred years ago. They started building their new home at the site of a small mining village in a fertile valley at the riverbank, which eventually grew into the city it is today.
The current ruler and eldest man of the family is Boscar Holdis. Generally just and well liked, he openly professes service to the ideals of Mynbruje and tries to rule with empathy and understanding but is not afraid to occasionally mete out harsh justice when needed. Boscar understands the fragility of Westbank, surrounded as it is by a multitude of nations and factions far more powerful than themselves and has chosen a stance of neutrality, making neither enemies nor alliances that might breed enmity from others.
His eldest son and heir is Erem Holdis, who is training as a Warrior Adept with the Order of the Unbroken
Staff. While their position could have made the Holdis family extremely wealthy, Boscar continues the tradition of his father and invests much of their gold into the city itself, making long-term investments that will benefit themselves and the city in the years to come. While the old southern fortifications have been restored and a small harbor established, Boscar knows that they cannot claim neutrality forever and wishes for a proper city wall and fort defending the city from all sides – an expensive project for sure.
While Westbank has a sizeable city guard, the Holdis family maintains a small private guard that watches
over their family residence at the Blue Keep. They frequently assist the city guard in domestic matters and patrols, and to the average citizen of Westbank the heraldry makes little difference, since the Holdis are rulers of both anyway.
