Session Two: Wrath of The Empath

"Empath" was captured with little resistance, with Rocket departing with Merit in order to keep an eye on the "kid".

Notes

Ron is relaxing on a rooftop taking selfies when his superior, Rocket II, calls him angrily. His recent activity has left the Rocket name a controversial topic in the media, and Roy doesn't approve of his violence and showboating, berating him for acting more like a loose cannon then a hero. Ron, ashamed, goes on patrol.
Norma is offered a promotion at work, with the caveat that she must earn it over Charlie Fox, her scowling coworker. He gives her the cold shoulder before departing, leaving Norma bothered and confused.
New to the city, First of May AKA Cora Nock wanders lower income areas in search of an apartment which will accept them and their pet fox, who follows earnestly. They end up on Dilwark street, a poor neighborhood with an influx of darkness after the World Devourer's attack months ago. Before they can attempt to inquire about an apartment they notice people, seemingly entranced, wandering from their homes. With some observation they see a strange figure; a young boy with strange eyes, ghoulish skin, and nothing where his mouth should be. May calls the others and Rocket appears quickly, while No_Clip's attempt at a new parkour style land her in the sewers. They manage to figure out that the boy cannot communicate through anything other than yes or no questions, as well as the smokey illusions he commands. He's scared, and seems to imply three dangerous people hurt him in some way, and he wants Rocket to protect him, who quickly accepts the responsibility. 
Merit soon arrive, a private research organization dedicated to matters of magic. After a brief argument the Rocket is allowed to join them as they cart the boy away for study, considering him a possibly monstrous danger. A brief talk in the van endears Ron to the head of the group somewhat, though they still seem to be at odds, and she insists that he's out of his depth here.
Meanwhile First of May and the late arriving No_Clip decide to stop at their favorite cafe. However a panicked call from Sofia, Norma's roomate, reveals that she was caught up in the incident and quite scared by the experience, needing her friend. Norma promises to be there, ditching May through texts, which prompts May to tell her "You aren't the hero I thought you were."
Angered, Norma spends all night researching what little she knows of the incident, finding a pertinent article, though not before Sofia reveals she knows Charlie through her brother, and she's surprised he needs a promotion at the Herald considering his main job as a chemist. Norma discovers the possible source of the magic child: Mr. Amazing's Wonder Walk, which closed years ago after magical phenomena. Traveling there alone in the night she's shocked to find movement in a tattered tent.....
