Buzzer-Gin

The Buzzer-Gin, or Buzz-Gin, is a strapped engine which sprays fire in a directed cone downwards. It sometimes comes featured with light-weight, foldable wings, which can be extended to aid in gliding. The Buzzer-Gin is meant to be used with serious protective equipment upon the user, and usage without protection can lead to serious burns, torn muscles, and lacerations.   The Buzzer-Gin is primarily used to achieve short-distance flight for military purposes. It weighs about fifty pounds, and functions by lighting fuel, which is rapidly extinguished and dumped out of the bottom nozzles. This causes violent force upwards, and allows one to reach a hundred feet in mere seconds. At this point, either the foldable wings, magic, or high winds can be used for forward movement. The user cannot land until the fuel is wholly extinguished - and, if they manage, the fuel does not stop burning until expended. The "fumes" are often enough for a landing, though it is rough, and in practice the expenditure nozzles should gradually be covered to induce fall while the fuel is still burning, before being revealed again, a process called "stutter-falling."
