Dethos'Karai - The Dark Pariah
The Dark Pariah, known affectionately by his worshippers as Dethos'Karai - the Lone Dark - is the mysterious father of Farenai and, according to his followers, all @Dark.
The origins of Dethos'Karai stem back to the Age of Destruction, when he led the original Dark Elves away from the heartlands of Delos'Nordan and to the swamps of Farenai, in hopes of avoiding the wrath of the dragons, as well as the crises which were enveloping the High Elven homeland at the time. After this exodus, he is credited with organizing the modern, decentralized state that the Dark Elves now call their home.
Beyond these material accomplishments, Dethos'Karai carries with him great mythicism. He is spoken of as an unrivaled warrior, despite his dedication to pacifism, and a master of magic spanning all the spheres. To the most fanatical of Dark Elves, Dethos'Karai is even a master of the Fallen Ways and Wild Ways, a man who uniquely has transcended the magics' power-hunger, and who would be capable of summoning vast hoards of undead for the swampland's defense should the need arise. Most in Farenai believe Dethos'Karai to be immortal, and still alive, locked away in the Black Palace, the seat of government whose location is officially unknown.
The truth of these claims is forever arguable, however, for Dethos'Karai makes no public appearances. The only ones who have the capability to see him are the Dark Elves' Messiahs, those who have contributed so much to Farenai's society that they are recognized as the Pariah's vessels. Unanimously, they agree upon his existence, but handle all public duties of central rule, of which there are few in a land like Farenai. Many Saints - those recognized by their local communities as shining representatives of the swampland's best - also claim to commune with the Lone Dark, especially Sword-Saints, who function as Dethos'Karai's paladins. These paladins certainly have powers, but their origins are up for debate, perhaps stemming back to the Dark Elves' own racial origins, which are believed to be founded in sorcery and demonic contracts.
