Hematfjold

Hematfjold is a mythical bear said to be the mother and father of Aedenhal. According to the Aedenskolt's legends, when their ancestors fled the destruction of The Brothers War, they sailed for generations before finding unoccupied and habitable lands. The lands they found were Aedenhal, and its snow-frosted hills were shorn from the sea when their ships awakened Hematfjold from its eternal slumber by way of the waves they caused.
Instead of becoming angered, Hematfjold embraced the newcomers, giving birth to the nation and securing the Aedenskolt's continued existence. All of the Aedenskolt bear the mark of the Bear and treat it as a loving parent, though they do not worship him as any sort of diety - to them, he is merely an ancestor, a myth which has been accepted as a storied kin.
