Sea of Songs

The Sea of Songs is a largely unexplored sea, beyond whose lands are believed to exist the lands of Viskrea. A dual reputation exists around the Sea of Songs; it is an uncharacteristically calm sea for most of the year, but run-away storms from the Sea of Waves can make it one of the most dangerous places upon the water when they occur. Additionally, piracy and slavers have long sailed across the Sea of Songs from both the Visk and Kai'Rinese, making disappearances common enough to be a recurring theme in sailor folk tales. These disappearances are further exacerbated by the fact that destructive storms in Songs are not unheard of, and so searchers are rarely gathered to recover the lost, assuming they perished to natural causes.
The origin of the Sea of Songs' name, in fact, alludes to this reputation for disappearances. It is said that deep in the night, sailors upon its waves are often haunted by the songs of those long lost in this part of the world. Ships are advised to steer clear of these songs, as approaching will lead a ship to the exact same fate as the fallen singers perished by.
