The Ones Beyond
The planar cosmology is a mystery to most. Wizards spend all of their time to master its intricacies, and have a pretty clear vision of its structure. Up to the Outer Planes, the cosmology maintains the structure of space and time, albeit in a plethora of differing ways. Beyond this layer, in the Conscious Planes, time remains, but space fades away, rendering them incapable of physical travel. Further beyond lies the Great Beyond, wholly unimaginable and indescribable. Even to those wizards, it lies as a mystery.
But there are forces beyond. Mortals speak of them, and quickly go mad. The deities admit their existence, but refuse to discuss the details. This is the realm of the Ones Beyond, whose names and language are not to be uttered or read under any circumstances. Instead, they are known by their descriptors, and by their general modes of influence, as a result of centuries of mortals falling to their prey.
Xoxokokoth - "The Binder of Chains"
Xoxokokoth is a slaver, who demands his followers to seek out total dominance of as many victims as they can. He is known to prey especially upon the nobility, and his cultists are feared around the world, for they can break even the greatest of spirits into subservience. One enslaved by Xoxokokoth's followers is said to even forget about the possibility of death, merely resigning themselves entirely to their fate. Often, they will lash out at anybody attempting to liberate them, either by attempting to kill them, or by seeking out their own death.Xegogoath - "The Mangler and Mutilator"
Those corrupted by Xegogoath mutilate their bodies and alter their forms beyond recognition, before turning on others to do unto them the same. Those who fall prey to Xegogoath's cultists often become his worshippers themselves, and Xegogoath's influence creeps into people who constantly feel as though they are outcasts.Ocinulthax - "The Serpent in Shadow"
Ocinulthax is known to influence through the workings of shadows. Those corrupted by his influence often begin to fear shadows, until they become one with their own, often living double lives, parts of which remain normal and parts of which are spent in the darkest of moral excesses.Yav'ugn'vhe - "The Writ But Unread"
Yav'ugn'vhe is known to influence beings through written word. There is some debate as to whether The Mad Word is an example of his text, but if it is, then it is a poor one, for no other text exists which can be read without the reader having their mind torn into shreds. The purpose of The Writ is unknown, for those under his influence rarely act towards any purpose, instead dying locked up in asylum.Ynnorash - "The Light Within the Dark"
Ynnorash is associated with the night, and especially the night sky. Those influenced by The Dark grow an affinity for the darkness, and an aversion to light. Under dark's cover, they kill and mutilate their victims, feasting upon their bodies and their bones.Mhagr'hoc - "The Blunted and Bleeding"
Mhagr'hoc drives his followers into war and battle, driving into them a desire for murder and death. Those influenced by The Bleeding often express a desire for an honorable death, and go to great lengths to commit suicide-by-spectacular-battle. The method by which Mhagr'hoc corrupts his victims not directly known, but he does generally prey upon accomplished warriors who can genuinely put on a good show.Civigox - "The Warp and the Wind"
Civigox is associated with the horrors of the Warp, as well as the Astral Winds which drive arcana within the planar cosmology. Those driven mad by his musings often pose a great danger to the world, as they mindlessly weave the Warp into their every day without fear or wariness about its negative impacts.
