The Freijäger Uprisings begin in The Forsmarch as a result of the prevalence of its mercenary military structure.

Uprisings will continue for more than a millenia throughout the Forsmarch's history. The rise of the Free Cities as distinct entities led to more formal unions of Freijäger which largely resolved the crisis by holding unaffiliated Freijäger in the Forsmarch's rural parts accountable to a legal authority.   Before this authority existed, the self-appointed Freijäger were largely free to enforce their own rules, which led to chaotic skirmishes and battles between competing Freijägers and individual vigilantes. The period of the Freijäger Uprisings is contested, and the severity of the crisis varied greatly over time, but its beginning is typically considered to coincide with the defeat of the Forsmarch in The Brothers War and its ending is considered to coincide with the growth of the Free Cities' influence in modern times.
