The Grand Sea War

Military: War

The Grand Sea War was a primarily-naval military conflict between Barisea and Delos'Nordan. The war is a stunning and unexpected success which is a great embarrassment to Delos'Nordan.

The war was sparked by the coup of Lord-Grand-Admiral Keffrey Nelson to take control of Barisea; Nelson, a known war-monger, sought to revive the Barisean navy's dominance after many decades of cutbacks due to a failing economy.   A combination of gunpowder and the invention of the engine gave the Bariseans a massive edge over Delos'Nordan. A majority of the High Elves' navy sank in the war's first conflict by Rya Ancelan, after which the Isle of Southhold was occupied. From there, the Bariseans launched a campaign to seize the outlying isles.   The war turned into a stalemate after a rapid seizure of the northern isles. The Bariseans did not attempt an invasion of the continent, which the Delos'Nordanians could not leave. The isle of Islahil was the only one which remained in High Elven hands, as the bulk of the surviving navy occupied its port with plentiful food stores and its defenders refused surrender.
