Character Creation Rules

  1. All Character Submissions from new players will enter the campaign at 1st level.
  2. – You may take your Starting Equipment as described by your class/background or you may roll for gold and purchase your own starting items.
    – To roll for gold, post a comment in your character's thread in #Character-Records using an Avrae command: !r 2d4*10 Starting Gold .
  3. Ability Scores will be determined using the 27 Point Buy system.
  4. This site is recommended by the Application Team to help determine ability scores.
  5. Currently accepted sourcebooks include Player's Handbook (PHB), Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide (SCAG), Xanathar's Guide to Everything (XGE), Tasha's Cauldron of Everything (TCE), Eberron: Rising from the Last War (ERftLW), Mythic Odysseys of Theros (MOT), Explorer's Guide to Wildemount (EGW), Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft (VRGR), Fizban's Treasury of Dragons (FToD), Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos (SaCoC), Monsters of the Multiverse (MoM), Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen (DSotDQ), and Acquisitions incorporated (AI), as well as the UA Revised Ranger
  6. Multi-classing is not allowed.
    – The Lucky feat is expressly forbidden.
    – If you select a race that can be found in MoM, you will be using MoM's mechanics. The only time this won't apply is if a character existed prior to MoM's release.
    – If you wish to use the UA Revised Ranger in place of the PHB Ranger for the XGE subclasses, simply replace the 5th level "Ranger Conclave" class feature with the PHB Ranger's "Extra Attack" class feature.
    List of Approved Races
  7. When your character is ready, you must submit them to the #Character-Records channel on our Discord server via the application form in the pinned message section and await approval.
  8. Each character in the 1st–7th level range is allowed ONE (and only ONE) rebuild opportunity with the following restrictions.
  9.   For rebuilds where class remains the same:
    – Your character name must be the same.
    – Your class must be the same, but you can change your archetype.
    – Your starting gold amount must be the same, but you can change your starting purchases (if you initially rolled for gold).
    – Anything earned after character creation remains.
For rebuilds which would change your character class:
    – Your new class’ level is 2 less than your current level, to a maximum of level 5. Your experience is set to the minimum for your new level.
    – Your character name must change enough to be distinguishable on Google sheets and other forms (EX: Dallia -> Dallia E.)
    – All items and wealth on the character to be rebuilt are lost. If you exchanged wealth or items with another player before rebuilding, they cannot be returned to any of your characters at any time.
    – Your post-rebuild gold and equipment is defined by your new class and background.
    – Your race and subrace must remain the same, but any optional choices can be different (Variant humans can pick a different level 1 feat, for example).
To submit a Rebuild Request, post a comment with your changes in your character's thread in the #Character-Records channel and notify the Staff (@Staff) about it in Discord.

These Rules will always be subject to change based on player, DM, and community feedback. In the case that your character becomes illegal based on a change in the rules then we will deal with those on a case by case basis and work with you to find a solution.

  • If you have a currently active 20th Level Character, you may make your second Character starting between 1st and 5th Level with the standard starting equipment/gold plus an additional 250 gold.
  • If you have one Character who has reached 7th Level or above and that Character either dies or retires, you may make a new Character starting at 5th Level with either A) the standard starting equipment/gold plus an additional 500 gold or B) 600 gold and no other starting equipment/gold
You cannot have more than 2 active Player Characters at any one time. Any character that is Retired becomes an NPC and may no longer be played.
