Discord & Roleplay Info

We use Discord for our voice communications while in game.
Additionally, Discord allows for the sharing of information quickly and easily for our players. Since every message is time stamped and can be searched, it also doubles as our log for auditing purposes. Please be sure to check the pinned messages and familiarize yourself with each of our channels and their contents.
Beyond that, we also have between session Role-Playing (RP) channels where you can meet your fellow adventurers and develop your own character. Most people format their RP for readability:

Type a message with an asterisk (*) on either side to italicize it. This is usually used to indicate narration

A message with quotations (") around it indicates speech...though some of us are a little lazy, so unformatted text can also indicate speech while in RP channels

A message in parenthesis (()) indicates out of character (OOC) comments. Please keep these to a minimum within RP channels. OOC comments should be kept in when possible #roleplay-discussion.

If you wish to speak in a language other than Common, simply state which language you are using in italics. Alternatively, various types of brackets can be used to indicate speech in other languages:

• "<" and ">" are used often to represent a language being spoken other than Common.
• Squared brackets are sometimes used to imply the use of telepathy.
• Spoiler tags "||" are also sometimes used to black out things another player shouldn't be able to observe without an appropriate proficiency or successful roll (but we all peek anyway. Just keep the meta-gaming to a minimum).

RP is in no way required for the purposes of advancing your character. However, it is used for Downtime Activities, buying/selling items, and exchanging items/money between players.

Server Rules and FAQ: Server rules and links to important documents and World Anvil pages
Announcements: Important server wide updates and announcements
Game Announcements: DMs will post upcoming sessions here with information on the session and players can sign up

General Chat

General: General discussion on D&D and D&D topics
Media: All links, pictures and other media is to be posted here, rather than other channels. Can @ the relevant players if part of a discussion elsewhere
Off Topic: Discussions not related to D&D or another relevant channel should happen here
Gaming Discussion: Video game and other gaming content goes here
Music Discussion: Music and music related content goes here (links to said music are allowed)
Player Bot Testing: A place to test out bot commands or utilize bots for complicated rolling in session

Help, Advice & Feedback

I Have a Question: A place for all questions aimed at the staff or community regarding EM including such things as DM rulings, how to do something, where to go, or better understandings of our systems
Character Creation: Advice and discussion on new characters you're thinking about creating or level up decisions you're debating for your character
DM Coaching: Questions related to DMing (magic item creation, XP, encounter planning, lore, and general advice). Threads are used here to provide limited privacy while still allowing the benefit of anyone being able to learn.
Feedback and Rule Suggestions: A place for providing feedback about the community. You can use (the Rules Form) to get the ball rolling on ways to help us improve our collective gameplay experiences. Each and every suggestion will be taken under careful consideration and discussed by the Administrative Council. EM places a high value on feedback.

Session Planning

Player Session Planning: A place to generally plan upcoming sessions, discuss scheduling, as well as gauge interest
DM Requests: Request a specific session, plot, boon, or item from the DMs. There is a format for these requests in the pins

Characters

Character Records: Location for all character applications and information including updates to characters, downtime CP tracking, and item wish lists. See pinned messages for instructions on how to use
Character Descriptions: Physical descriptions of characters, usually includes a picture
Downtime Activity Rolls: Every week you can roll for your characters' downtime here
Idriell Time: Bot channel that tells the current time and weather in Idriell
Favor Rolls: Specifically for rolling for Boons purchased with Favor
Legend Lores: DMs will post legend lore content here for it to be easily accessed and looked up by players
Player Exchanges: Anytime your character gives something (item, gold, etc) to another player, it needs to be put here with an @ to the other player and the characters' names
Town Planning: An area to discuss official changes to settlements and to notify the staff of new structure requests

OOC Discussion

Roleplay Discussion: Discussions on current roleplaying happening, questions on roleplaying or general questions on what's currently happening on the server
RP Rolls: Rolls for text roleplaying with other players or NPC. It is customary to @ the player who requested the roll or request rolls to players with an @ here

The rest of the Discord channels are for in character (IC) roleplay, and are subject to change based on how the settlements change.
