Legend Lore: Moehaune, Broken Child of Nightmares

Moehaune is a creature of solace. Having lived most of his life alone and at odds with those around him he deemed unworthy or lacked understanding of the powers he controlled, he has learned to grow an appreciation for having the silence around him at all times. His followers, those he dubs his servants, must remain quiet at all times or risk expulsion from the cult. Their cult is a relatively new one in the grand scheme of cult history, its reach within the towns it operates from is limited and widely understated. It finds itself confined to libraries, where it researches the mind and how controlling stakes within it can be utilized to engineer change among its constituents.   As a cult, it builds culture around the betterment of society as a whole, and how the thoughts and minds of the populace can serve as tools and means to achieve ends. However, due to the nature of their exploits and attacks, connections between them and acts that they have perpetrated are difficult to pinpoint. However, an incident dubbed “The Sleepless Nights” has been covered up by the towns guard within the city of Mym Dorai.   It took place 5 years prior to the current year, and involves the town of Mym Dorai. It began with an epidemic. One elven man within the town, Richard Dresdon, checked himself into a cleric suffering a bout of sleep apnea, having been unable to find rest despite closing their eyes for hours at a time. Then, only a few nights later, the rest of his family reported the same symptoms, as did their neighbors. The guard, hoping to stop the spread, closed off the city to outside travel temporarily, and hundreds within the city began developing the same symptoms. The clerics in the city were baffled, determining the symptoms were not contagious and the people were being affected in groups and family lines. The affected figures began slipping into madness, and eventually staged a break out as they escaped into the forest. Mym Dorai covered up the incident to avoid causing further panic, claiming it as a bandit raid, but the affected figures have not been seen again, nor has the affliction struck another.
