Legend Lore: Scanrúil, the Nightmare Child

Two lovers apart by royal decree
Once allowed to each others see
Happy they were, so mighty and wise
Weaved magical tales and dreamt of the skies   Both avid tellers of wondrous tales
Masters of their craft, the bard regales
The last of his kin, maker of myth
And one of a kind, the dreaming smith   Together the two would craft and create
Tales of wonder which they would narrate
But one such story of the dark and vile
Would forever after, their bond defile   For the Storyteller's tale was one of fright
The Dreamer so terrified they would struggle at night
When sleep thus came, many nightmares were had
Forming into being an evil child so mad   Sylvan minds were assaulted with grief
A roaming darkness, a nightmare's chief
A shared nightmare lasting till dawn
From whence awakened minds a creature would spawn   The Nightmare Child was thus conceived
From the many fey the night had grieved
It masters that which lurks in the mind
Where fear exists, Scanrúil is not far behind
