Legend Lore: The Dawn War
The Dawn War was the war between the Primordials and the Gods, encompassing the Blue Age, when the world was naught but a single, world-spanning ocean, save for the Cradle of the Gods, and the Shadow Epoch, a devastating time when Dendar, the Night Serpent, devoured the sun - killing most life on the planet.
According to Sarrukh legends, the war began when Tharizdun marshaled the primordials against the gods in a bid for universal domination. After Tharizdun was imprisoned in the Abyss, the Primordials shifted power time and time again during the battle. The dragon god Io, in his arrogance, faced off against Erek-Hus, the King of Terror, and was killed when the primordial cleaved him in two with his adamantine axe. Shar and Selune moved in tandem to defend the newly born realmspace from primordials from the Outer Planes, while the battle raged in the seas of the world. The war grew dire as the Primordials encroached on the Cradle of the Gods. When Dendar the Night Serpent devoured the sun, all seemed lost. Ubtao, a Primordial, grew furious at the destruction of the sun. He betrayed the Primordials to work with the Gods in secret, teaching them how to defeat and imprison the Primordials. The Gods themselves gathered in secret, releasing Jubileus to help detain and contain their enemies. And so, with the Divine Will at their back, the Gods were able to defeat the Primordials - driving them to a different dimension entirely, free to soak in the worship of the mortals who remained.
